This filter is for importing Nisus 3.0 through Nisus Writer 4.0 documents into QuarkXPress versions 3.1 through 3.3.
The filter will…
• retain paragraph formatting, font, size, styles and paragraph-defined styles.
• retain character graphics and their positions (these are graphics on the Text Layer).
• retain variable stamps (e.g., date and time stamps).
• retain all Roman script text (i.e., English, French, German, Spanish, etc.)
The filter will NOT…
• retain graphics on the Graphics Layer.
• retain character-defined styles, but the styles themselves will be retained (QuarkXPress has no character based style sheets.)
• import non-Roman script text (i.e., Arabic, Cyrillic, Hebrew, etc.) into a US/Roman version of QuarkXPress. (To do so you must have a language specific version of QuarkXPress and a different filter. Please contact Nisus Software for filter availability.)
• retain precise line and paragraph spacing for leading over 24 points (QuarkXPress and Nisus Writer handle leading differently).
• export back to Nisus Writer.
INSTRUCTIONS:
To install the filter “Nisus Import (US)” place it in the “XTension” folder located in the QuarkXPress application folder and launch QuarkXPress.
NOTE:
When the Nisus Import (US) filter is present, it will override any other type of “TEXT” filter. The Nisus Import (US) filter supports ASCII/Text importing. However, to use the “XPress Tags Filter,” quit QuarkXPress, remove the “Nisus Import (US)” filter from the XTension folder and relaunch QuarkXPress.
